Developing Balance – Thinking It Through

ponder circle picBalance is a fluid state not a static state.  We benefit from knowing where the center is, where we are grounded, and the calming moments; so that, we can return to them frequently.

We have racing minds, lots of interests, many responsibilities, various stressors, vast emotional swings, and so much input – balance is necessary for healthy living.

We have many choices, multiple talents, and a tendency toward doing it all.  Defining our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual limits is import too.

White Hat – What are the Facts?

We are high energy, extremely active individuals.  We can also be full out exhausted.  Learning about other speeds to operate or ways to interrupt the all or nothing mode will allow for greater balance.

We receive vast input because of our high sensitivities, rapid thought process, and encompassing the big picture.  Learning tools to segment and organize leads toward balance.

How do you slow down?  What do you do to organize?

Red Hat – Emotionally

Hypersensitivities and easily excitable – makes for a roller coaster of emotions.  Knowing when and how to pause can help balance to enter the equation.  Emotional pauses can include taking a deep breath, a time out, or R & R.  It can also be about routines like meditation, exercise, being in nature, and play.  Emotions are stimulated by our sensitivities and our environment.  Managing these aspects allow for greater balance.

What do you do to pause?  How do you manage stimulus?

Black Hat – Caution, serious, and weaknesses

The over doing and overwhelm can sock it to us.  We have to be cautious about mental and physical exhaustion.  We need to take serious our overexcitabilities, insatiable curiosity, and hyperactivity.  Fluid balance is part of the formula and we are responsible for our own choices.

How responsible are you in the choices you make?

Yellow Hat – Optimistic, positive

We experience a full spectrum of emotions, sensations, imagination, thoughts visuals, and situations.  We have the pot of gold in our hands from the end of the rainbow with so many opportunities, choices, and abilities.  And how we integrate balance has a full spectrum of possibilities, too.

What do you delight in doing to bring balance to your life?

Green Hat- Abundance, growth, creativity

Life is full of cycles and balancing factors:  summer – winter, spring – fall, day – night, stillness – turbulence, patterns – chaos.  Through the cycles and balance, come growth, abundance, and creativity.

Being in the flow can drive us and then we may collapse.  There are points of exhilaration and points of rest.  The fullness of life exists within the cycles and balance.  We need to recognize our cycles and balance to facilitate growth, abundance, and creativity.

What are your cycles and balance that generate growth?

Blue Hat – Control, organization, collaboration of all the hats

It is easy for our lives to seem out of control.  Focus, concentration, organization can all be challenges.  When we have awareness of the various aspects of being a multi-talent we can make choices to integrate beneficial pauses in our routines, our life, to bring a fluid balance.  We can contain and let go.  We can experience the chaos and have a tether to our center point.  We can be our authentic selves and engage responsibly four ourselves and others.
