Taoism and What’s the World Have to Do With Me

DSC03378

Our family, culture, community and our place in history have an impact on our development as an individual.  Identifying aspects of each that we have integrated into who we are and how we relate to the world can open possibilities.  We do have choice on what we keep, discard and integrate from what we have learned and experience within our family, culture, community and place in history.

Taoism is a system of belief, attitudes, and practices set towards the service and living to a person’s own nature.  The path of understanding Taoism is simply accepting yourself.  Live life and discover who you are.

Defining who we are is our choice.  Our family, culture, community and place in history provide possible components.  We have learned these components.  We have integrated some of the components in our self-definition.   We can assess the components and make choices using our foundation of values and needs.

Taoism teaches a person to flow with life.  Taoism is many things to many people.  There are hundreds of variations.  Taoism makes no distinction in applying labels to its own nature.  This is important since as a person we are each a blend of many truths.  The truth taught in Taoism is to embrace life in actions that support us as a person.  Taoism teaches a person to live to their heart.

Let us embrace our family, our culture, our community and our place in history.  And in so doing, embrace ourselves from our heart and in flow with life.
