Lots of talk (guidance, instruction, dictate, expectations …)on “do something with your life”; “live up to your potential”; “make something of yourself”; “be all you can be”; “do your best”.
What is your response to this talk? What is your self-talk around these sayings? Do you value doing your best? Do you never achieve your “best” – as perfection is the only result acceptable?
Are you progressing toward mastery? Practicing, learning, improving your potential?
Is potential development a requirement for the fulfillment of Life?
It’s kind of like health – even though much of modern medicine separates our head from our toes – it is all connected. We are whole. We are many facets with many talents and much potential. For fulfillment of life, we can keep it simple – What brings us joy? Yet fulfillment is complex just like we are. What are our talents? What do we enjoy doing? What have we been taught by our family, culture, community – and how does that impact our life fulfillment? What do we value? What are our thoughts, desires, fascinations, dreams, curiosities, delights, visions? What are our resources? Who are our mentors, heroes, idols? Understanding ourselves is the first step in developing our potential and/or experiencing life fulfilled. Just remember there will always be the unknown and mystery and thus movement is required without all the answers.
We need to understand the “WHY” for us to have the motivation to pursue any or all dreams, desires, potential, or fulfillment. What is important to us? How will we benefit? What do we have to offer? What value is there? What will be the results? What will we gain? What will we give?
We are driven/wired to make a difference as a multi-talent. We see the big picture with many alternatives that can be “better” for all. [Keep in mind that “better” is from our perspective] We can see solutions to problems. We can formulate the problem to generate solutions. Fulfillment involves following this vision.
As we create we experience flow – that intense enmeshment of what we are doing that time is no longer relevant. We are living our potential intensely in those moments (which can be great amounts of focused time).
Balance is part of that fulfillment. Balance is a strategy for developing potential. Balance does not mean the horizontal teeter totter. Balance changes with the different pieces of the wheel of life and different time throughout life. However to maintain health and wholeness, we must know and practice what is required for our balance (self-charging process).
Who are we? What is our make up? What are the components of our potential? What is fulfilling for us? What is our why? What is our vision? What is our plan and strategy for developing our potential – experiencing the fulfillment of life? What is necessary for balance (self-charging process)?
