Educ-guess is short for educated guess. I used Educated Guess as a handle during the 70’s for the CB radio. That was before cell phones. CB radios were not only for truckers, also for safety and communication on the road. I use educ-guess now on many of my online presence – twitter, boards, and forums. It is uniquely me and provides, like with the CB handle, some persona.
I chose Educated Guess because of being frequently referred to as educated and smart. The Guess part refers to my reference point. Whether you are a doctor, lawyer, engineer, scientist, carpenter, plumber, or mechanic; you have a body of knowledge and when you are solving a problem it is your best guess. You actually solve the problem by testing your best guess.
Being educated and smart has been a blessing and a curse. Your best guess can be also. High ability is innate. You have certain talents. However, those abilities or talents must be developed to decrease the guess work and increase the skill or expression. The talents stimulate your search know how, which comes naturally, rapidly and with enthusiasm. The response to your search and expression of your talents is mixed. Thus the curse raises its ugly head. Then you begin to guess how others will respond and minimize your expression. Or you minimize the development of your talents and the guessing is more prevalent. Yes, you are a natural ________. [Fill in the blank with your specific talent.] But development is necessary to fulfill the potential and have the foundation to soar. Your best guess is not available when you hide or dumb down your gift.
Understanding yourself and helping others understand that you have multiple talents and are educated (formally or informally) is key to expression and contributing. Having the point of view that it is your best guess, says there is always more to learn and experience. Developing and expressing your gifts is a life long responsibility and joy. Take your best educated guess for your next step in being uniquely you. Celebrate the blessing and create understanding to dissipate the curse.
